Learn Spanish and volunteer in Cartagena

Have you always dreamed about Spanish classes in combination with volunteer opportunities in Colombia? Well, this is your chance. We work with a wide range of projects. Volunteering in Cartagena helps you to move out of your comfort zone and let you learn about Colombian culture. You will gain a deeper understanding of the country and contribute to the improvement of local life.

As far as we know, we are the only organization that offers Spanish lessons with free volunteering in Cartagena. After you arrive in Cartagena we will help you with all your questions, moreover, someone will go with you to visit the volunteer project together on your first day.

The Volunteer projects in Cartagena that we support

We support volunteering in animal protection and working with children (between the ages of 2 and 14).

In the animal care, we invite you to help us with cats and dogs. There is a lot of work to do, friendly hands are needed that really want to work, to make life so happy for so many animals. You can help in many ways, for example: bathing, playing with them, helping to build houses or shelters for them, cleaning, etc. In this program we help about 400 dogs and 50 cats.

The project with children is at a school. Tasks will be like helping the children with homework, English, playing with them etc. 

Requirements

The minimum of volunteer work is 2 weeks but for the projects that you have to work with children. We recommend a minimum of 4 weeks. Children get attached to you so it`s to their benefit when you stay a little bit longer. For our volunteer projects in Cartagena, you don´t need to speak Spanish but we always recommend having a basic level of Spanish. Your volunteering will be more enjoyable because you can communicate a little bit with the local people and practice your Spanish in real-life situations. For this reason, we suggest that you take a minimum of 4 weeks of lessons before you start with the project if you don´t speak any Spanish. We offer private and group lessons in Cartagena. 

To participate in our Cartagena volunteer program, there is a minimum of 2 weeks of volunteering and 2 weeks of Spanish lessons mandatory. You can book a Spanish course and can also choose how many weeks of Spanish lessons you want to take.

Please note: If you want to volunteer and take your Spanish lessons on the same day. It`s not possible to combine your volunteer program with taking group lessons due to the schedule.

• 4 mornings of volunteering per week (usually a volunteer project can offer 4 times a week volunteer work, but it can be less, depends on the project and the need)

• Spanish course in Cartagena (to participate in our volunteer program there is a minimum of 2 weeks of volunteering and 2 weeks Spanish lessons mandatory)
