Join our amazing and busy program, and embrace `pura vida`, Costa Rica`s relaxed mentality. With us you will learn Spanish in paradise and catch one of the best waves in the world while surfing. Or develop inner awareness with yoga classes. Besides that, you will be part of a planet-saving-adventure. We take you out for adventures and you will assist in preserving our planet by helping with forest, beach and turtle conversation. This is not just a normal program. This is a lifechanging experience and you will get a real feel for Costa Rica`s biodiversity.

Week 1

During your first week you will have Spanish lessons with Surf or Yoga lessons. On Monday to Friday you have 2x 45 minutes of Spanish lessons. The lessons are very structured and professional. They help you in interacting and immersing with the local community. In the first week we want you to enjoy the natural beaty of Costa Rica. You will find yourself ´lost´ on a hike along the river and into the lush tropical forest. Being in paradise and in one of the best surf spots in the world. It´s pretty obvious that most students choose for surf lessons in the first week. Enjoy the fun of catching the waves. With the help of a professional surf instructor and 4 lessons of approximately 2 hours. You will get up, and stand up in no time. Alternatively, you can change your surf lessons for professional yoga lessons. Imagine yourself on a beautiful beach or in the jungle camp. Many people come to this part of Costa Rica to practice yoga because the destination is a magical place. It´s perfect if you want to work on your mental balance, body control and relax as part of your journey.

Week 2

The second week makes you realise that you become better in Spanish. We will continue every day with Spanish lessons and we let you mix in several volunteering projects. These projects are very important and designed to protect and save our planet. Project work is varied and priorities are seasonal and weather dependent. But most of the efforts are in beach conversation, recycling projects and tropical forest conversation. During this week we hike also along the beach to rock pools, where you can enjoy a relaxing dip in the warm pools.

Week 3

This week is perhaps the highlight of the program. It´s an unbelievable experience if you see baby turtles crawl out of their nests as they fight to get to the water. You will spend 4 days/3nights at a Turtle Sanctuary, Cirenas. This is an organization that focus around Costa Rica to protect beaches, forests and wildlife. Through us you have the opportunity to assist in a turtle protection program. You have to protect eggs and hatchlings of Olive Ridley, Black turtle, Hawksbill and Leatherback species, who visit ´semi-intensive´ nesting beaches at night to nest. The main goal is to protect adult female turtles and their nests, from human predators and wildlife or natural events such as flooding. It´s important to note that although turtles nest frequently in peak season (July to November), there will be times that turtle activity is very low. But they will always need help during most time of the year. Your important tasks will be maintenance of infrastructure and surroundings, beach cleaning, night patrols to look for nesting female turtles (in season), transport of food and water, collection of data and releasing baby turtles into the ocean (in season) and the construction of a hatchery.

Week 4

After the first 2 weeks of Spanish lessons, the surf and yoga lessons and the good volunteering work. It`s time to go on a superb adventure in your last week. When you think about Costa Rica, you immediately think about beautiful national parks full of wildlife and exotic plants. When you speak to someone who has visited Costa Rica, you will always hear how amazing the nature is. What people say is true and the nature is impressive. For that reason, we take you in the last week of the program to one of the best National Parks of Costa Rica. You will go on a 4 days/3night trip to explore the amazing Monteverde National Park. This place should not be missed during any Costa Rican itinerary. The Park is famous for it´s cloud forests and extreme high biodiversity. Every day we go on guided expeditions and we enjoy the incredible hikes. There are also some spectacular optional extra activities like the famous extreme ziplining, horse riding, canyoning here are also some amazing optional extra activities like their famous zip wire, horse riding, atv tour or canyoning. This trip will be the perfect end for your language adventure!

Accommodation

During this program you will stay in a jungle camp. It`s in paradise with a swimming pool surrounded by rich tropical forest and curious neighbours like capuchin and howler monkeys. This place is the perfect base for your adventure. Accommodation is in dormitory.

During week 3 and 4, you will spend some nights at Cirenas and in Monteverde National Park. Accommodation in Cirenas is in a nice wooden house with 6 rooms, each with a couple of bunks up to 4 per room. In Monteverde you will stay in a local hostel in the center of the town.

Spanish Travel Classes organizes language trips to Latin America. We have fallen in love with Latin America and that`s why we know this continent like the back of our hand. We have local knowledge & contacts, and we only work with the best Spanish schools in all countries where we organize our language trips. We can tell you exactly the difference between our schools: about the Spanish lessons, the vibe at school, the place where the school is in relation to the tourist attractions of that place etc.

We are in direct contact with our partner schools with whom we can connect immediately. If there are any problems, we will not let you down. Our team makes it possible to be available 24/7 with whatever you need.

The advantage of Spanish Travel Classes is also that we keep our costs low by working remote and by being a small online travel agency. Other tour operators calculate their profit based on the commission they receive from a school, and they also charge reservation costs. They will therefore prefer to send you to the school where the profit is highest for them.

This is not how we work. We on the contrary: we offer a BEST-PRICE-GUARANTEE. When you book a Spanish course through Spanish Travel Classes, we don´t charge you for our services. You get the same price or even lower, as when you book directly with the school.

What’s for us the most important, is QUALITY AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, that you choose the language program that best matches your needs. We don't care which school you go to so we can give you always honest and personal advice. This may sound strange to you but it`s a very important difference between Spanish Travel Classes and other travel agencies.

So, start to compare programs or get in touch with us to find out more about how you can learn Spanish in Latin America.

When you find your language trip and know where you want to learn Spanish in Latin America, we recommend that you first book your flight. With a flight reservation it`s easier to process your reservation. We can arrange airport transfers and extra nights for accommodation when required. If you arrive overland from another country, please inform us about this.

When you have your flight information, follow the steps with booking from the desired language trip and make a booking request. You will receive an invoice by email, and we ask you for your approval. We request a 50% deposit payment of the total invoice sum, to guarantee the reservation. {Please note: due the COVID-19 pandemic, you can book your language trip at this moment with no deposit payment and the option to change or cancel your program at no cost}

After this step we reserve for you the lessons, accommodation and often the transfer to the school. We expect your remaining payment to be done at least 30 days before the start of the program. If you book shorter before departure, we expect your payment immediately after we have received confirmation from the school.

After receiving your payment, we will send you proof of payment and travel information with information about the school, the place and the country you are going to study Spanish.

´Donde está el baño? (Where is the toilet?) and ´2 cervezas por favor´ (2 beer please). Of course, such kind of phrases are essential when you travel around Latin America. But how long does it take to have better conversations? Very good ´pregunta´! It depends on several things like your prior knowledge of Spanish, your language skills and of course your commitment to do homework.

But in general, we can say (and with my own personal experience in mind) that someone without much prior knowledge and a normal sense of language. Will be able to have small basic conversations of Spanish after six weeks of studying.

In many places in Latin America, people speak little or no English. For that reason, it´s nice to be able to communicate a little bit with the locals. Your travels will be so much better and easier.

So, check out our language programs today!

At the schools you will meet also other students with ages ranging from 18 to 65 years. But the average age will usually be between 20 and 30 years.

To participate in our language trips, you must be at least 18 years old. There are no age limits for most of our programs. Although on most of our language trips you will meet mostly young travelers with an adventurous mindset.

If a transfer is included in the trip, we will write this down in the trip facts and mentinon it under the tab `TRIP INCLUDES`.

But for most of our adventures, transfers to and from the airport are not included. If you prefer a pre-arranged transfer, these are usually available at an additional cost. Please follow the steps with your booking and select them as your `TRIP EXTRA`.

Yes, you can! In each language trip we include the cheapest accommodation option for you. But in most cases, you can book an upgrade to other types of accommodations. Different prices will apply for private rooms, double rooms, and homestay experiences.

Additional accommodation (extra nights before or after your language trip) can also be booked for your language trip.

Please follow the steps with your booking and select an accommodation upgrade or additional nights as your desired `TRIP EXTRA`.

We always recommend to travel with a backpack, especially if you travel a lot from place to place. A backpack is also useful in case you are going to do an overnight hike where a (large) backpack must be carried. In case you take your suitcase with you, pay attention to the size.

We strongly advise students to take out (ongoing) travel or medical & cancellation insurance in their home country, if you do not already have one. Also think of any additional insurance (such as when you go rafting, ziplining or another extreme sport)

With most passports you will receive a VISA on Arrival upon arrival in the country in Latin America. So, you don't have to prepare this in advance. An exception is Cuba, for this you must apply for a visa online in advance (processing time is only 1 day). It`s essential that you check the visa requirements of every country you will be visiting with the local embassy, consulate, or a reputable visa handling company such as ´visalink` for the most up to date visa information before you travel.

If you transfer to Canada or in the US and continue with your travels to Latin America, it`s mandatory to apply for an ETA or ESTA.

Are you traveling through Canada? Then you need to apply for an ETA. The best and cheapest way to apply for your ETA is on the official Government of Canada website. The costs for applying for an ETA are for your own account and it`s your own responsibility to apply for it.

Are you traveling via the USA? Then you need to apply for an ESTA. The best and cheapest way to apply for your ESTA is on the official U.S. website. Customs and Border Protection. The costs for applying are for your own account and it is your own responsibility to apply.

If you go to Latin America, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your return to your home country.

The sockets are not the same as in Europe, Asia, or Australia. It´s therefore useful to take an adapter with you. It´s the same outlet as in the US/Canada.

It´s important that you receive the most accurate and up-to-date health information for the region you will be visiting. The only person authorized to provide you with this information is your family doctor, or a specialist from a travel clinic. They can provide you with advice and the latest updates.

The need for malaria pills also differs per country. Here too, we recommend that you seek medical advice for the latest information.

We always recommend that you bring as light luggage as possible, although the specific recommendations for your language program in Latin America can vary greatly depending on the place and time.

So, what do I need to pack? No worries! We will send you a specific packing list before your language trip. You will receive our detailed travel information 1 month before departure. But to answer already one frequently asked question, about a mosquito net: yes, or no? The answer to this is `No`, you don`t need to bring a mosquito net. In places where a mosquito net is necessary, such as in the jungle, it`s available at the accommodation. Mosquito repellent is of course a no brainer!

Safety is our top priority for Spanish Travel Classes on your language trip. We always keep a close eye on security in the different countries and political situations. Through our partners we are always aware of the most current situation.

It´s relatively safe to travel in Latin America. But we always ask you to go out with common sense. For example, don't go out alone in the evening and don't wear flashy jewelry or watches. By following a few simple rules, the risk of theft/aggression is very low

You have coverage in Latin America with your SIM card, but you can´t use your mobile subscription or data. Fortunately, there is Wi-Fi in many places so you can let people know at home how amazing it is in Latin America. In addition, you can buy a local SIM card, so that you can always stay in touch with your family and friends

We always recommend that you bring a credit card. This way you will never be faced with surprises in an emergency.

Visa Card is the most widely accepted credit card in Latin America; with this, cash can also withdraw from larger banks in cities in case of emergency

In many places in Latin America, you can only pay with cash. So, don´t expect that you can swipe with your pass as you are used to in your home country. But you can withdraw the local currency at an ATM.

We always recommend that you keep your credit card and debit card separate from each other in different places.
Also bring some cash dollars, it´s useful in case of emergency.

Wages are generally low in Latin America and therefore it´s always advisable to tip, although this is of course not mandatory.

Just click on the CONTACT button or reach out to us on WhatsApp with your question, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
