Be surprised in Guatemala on our Traveling Classroom. This language trip is designed for students that want to learn Spanish in Guatemala while discovering Guatemala's fascinating history and culture. On this 2- or 4-week Spanish adventure in Guatemala, you will learn a lot of Spanish and have the most extraordinary experiences with new travel friends. You will travel in a group from Antigua to Lake Atitlan up to Shemuc Champey and Flores. Highlights along the way include discovering colonial and colourful Antigua, participating in volunteer work, doing lots of beautiful hikes and seeing volcanoes, paddling or kayaking on Lake Atitlan, experiencing a tubing adventure at the Lanquín Rive, exploring the majestic Shemucc Champey, making impressive treks through the jungle the Inca city of Tikal, and participating in many cultural activities. Spanish lessons in Guatemala

During our 2-week or 4-week Traveling Classroom in Guatemala, you take part in a group Spanish language course. There are 10 lessons included during the 2-week trip and 18 lessons during the 4-week language trip. You will have Spanish lessons from professional teachers. First in the colourful town of Antigua and then in the town of Santa Cruz with views over Lake Atitlan. Each Spanish class takes 45 minutes and the lessons are designed to help you in interacting and immersing with the local community. The Spanish lessons are tailored to suit all levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced.

Week 1

Are you ready for a unique experience in Guatemala?
During the first week of your language immersion program in Guatemala, you explore the beautiful colonial town of Antigua. A guide tells you everything about the highlights of Antigua and you visit the impressive Jade Museum. On another day we do a nice hike to the lookout point for a beautiful view over the city. And you participate in volunteer work and learn all about the process of coffee making on a Coffee Plantation Tour. You will also visit several markets with a guide who will teach you many things about the culture in Guatemala.
Besides exploring Antigua, you will have 6 Spanish lessons. And during the weekend, you will have time for yourself and you can decide what to do with your new travel friends. We highly recommend you to do the Acetenango Volcano overnight Hike or the Pacara volcano. This is your ultimate chance to see a lava-spewing volcano! Trust us, it is awesome!

Week 2

We leave the stunning city of Antigua and continue our Spanish adventure on our way to Santa Cruz! Santa Cruz is a very nice town located on the popular Lake Atitlan. A cool speedboat ride will take you to your accommodation. We kick off the week with a guided welcome walk in Santa Cruz. You will also participate in volunteer work and have a cooking class under the guidance of a chef. You will learn to make the most delicious dishes from Guatemala! Also on the agenda is an early sunrise hike with great views over the lake and the surrounding volcanoes. You can choose on another day to Paddle on the lake or for a Kayak Experience. Imagine being on the water with the volcanic landscape all around you. How amazing is that!
In week 2, you will of course have also Spanish lessons. This time you have your Spanish language classes with the views over Lake Atitlan. You will get 4 lessons in which you will notice that you are getting better and better in the Spanish language. The weekend is free again. You have the chance to do the popular India Nose Hike. But you can also just relax, enjoy kayaking, or visit some of the other villages around the lake by a taxi boat. The choice is yours!

For 2-week travelers, the trip ends on Sunday morning in Lake Atitlan.

Week 3

During week 3, we will stay again in lovely Santa Cruz. This week it's time for 8 more Spanish lessons in Lake Atitlan, and more cool adventures. We start the week with a really fun Guatemala cultural activity. You will learn everything about the ancient art of Maya weaving. You will also have another yoga class, and we will do an amazing hike to a very beautiful waterfall. On another day you could enjoy kayaking on Lake Atitlan with your new travel friends. All good things comes to an end. On Saturday, it's time to say goodbye to this wonderful place where you've had the pleasure of spending 2 wonderful weeks. An 8-hour drive will take you to the heart of Guatemala. Along the way, you will see many breathtaking landscapes.

Week 4

During week 4 you will have no more Spanish lessons in Guatemala. The week is full of enjoying the coolest activities and adventures in Lanquín and Flores. We start on Sunday with a tubing adventure. Experience stunning views while floating in a tube on the spectacular Lanquín River. Another highlight of this week is the Shemuc Champey, a must-see spot in Guatemala. This place is a paradise of natural pools, caves and waterfalls. What makes it so special is that it is located in the lush mountainous jungle of Guatemala. There are also many cool caves that we will explore! On Tuesday, we move on again. With a nice 8-hour drive to the beautiful town of Flores. To recharge your batteries, you have a free day on Wednesday. But you can spend the day very well, for example, taking a trip to the nearby Mayan ruins, or you can take a canoe trip or go zip-lining in the Ixpanpajul Nature Park. In short: There are plenty of fun activities to do if you feel you want to rest after your Traveling Classroom in Guatemala!

After your free day, we have scheduled an unforgettable experience. We leave early in the morning to go on a sunrise hike to Tikal. Listen how the jungle wake up and watch how the spectacular ruins of Tikal light up during sunrise. This magical place Tikal is among the most beautiful ruins in Central America. And one of the best places to visit in Guatemala. It is a magnificent place! On Friday, you have another free day, and you can sleep out or buy some nice souvenirs. By a luxury overnight bus, we travel back to Antigua. You will arrive back in this colourful city on Saturday morning around 6 am. The program ends here and you have time to look back on a fantastic Spanish immersion in Guatemala.


During this Spanish immersion program, you don`t need to worry about good accommodation. We have carefully selected the coolest places for you to stay in Guatemala. In Antigua our stay for the week will be Arda hostel. It is a very trendy hostel, just two blocks away from the main plaza. Inside this 18th century colonial house you can find the diversity of art in all its expressions. In Santa Cruz we will invite you in paradise under the volcanos. The place is called La Iguana Perdida, and has been a home away from home for travelers of all ages from across the globe. If you join us for our 4-week Traveling Classroon Guatemala. Then you will visit next Amigos hostel in Flores. Both the hostel and the restaurant are amazing. There is a very nice Hummingbird garden where you can relax. Your next accommodation wil be Zephyr Lodge close. It is a place with a world famous infinity pool with unobstructed mountain views. And our dream destination from where we go on river tubing and Semuc Champey tours.
